Consolidated Union Contracting (CUC) in conjunction with Union Dredgers & Marine Contacting (UDMC) are pleased to announce they have been awarded the offshore dredging and pipeline installation works for the new Barka Desalination Plant in the Sultanate of Oman. The Barka Desalination Plant is set to be one of the largest reverse osmosis desalination plant’s in Oman. Once completed in April 2018 the $ 300 million plant will produce 20% of the countries water. The plant will be run by a consortium of members known as“The Barka Desalination Company” Suez Environmental / Degremeont part of the lead consortium building the plant saw fit to visit UDMC offices in Oman and UAE, as well as our current and past projects with similar scopes of work before finally awarding us the marine contract. Our scope of works include sheet piling, approximately 200,000m3 of dredging, installation and commissioning of 2.2m diameter intake pipelines and 1.4m diameter outlet pipelines to a distance of 1.5km offshore.
